Voidokilia Beach
Voidokilia Beach is probably the most well known beach in Messenia and stands out amongst the most amazing beaches in entire Greece! Voidokilia got its name from the word “Voufras”, which signifies “where the oxen live”. Another name for Voidokilia is Vouvota (Oxen’s Belly) in an ancient inscription. The purpose behind this the name of the beach is the big curvature of the bay which looks like the belly of an ox.

Little Islands at Navarino Bay
During your vacations in Pylos you should go to the little islands of Navarino Bay. The island of Sphacteria, the little island of Pylos that otherwise is called Tsichli-Baba or Fanari and the small rocky island known as Chelonaki. During the summer months and on a daily basis there are boats from Navarino Bay that take you there . In these trips the tickets contain a visit to the monuments of the fallen soldiers that happen in the Battle of Navarino between the Turk-Egyptian armada and the Allies.

Kalamari Waterfalls
Close to Gialova and with directions from signs on the street you will find Kalamaris Waterfall. You will appreciate the thick dew which will make you overlook the great summer heat. Pass the small bridge and climb the steps of the pathway that will lead you to the waterfall and the lake. On summer months you won't discover much water; possibly only a couple of little streams running on the stone and dribbling into the lake.

Palaiokastro Castle (Old Pylos)

Palaiokastro Castle (Old Pylos)
Old Pylos Castle was constructed in the thirteenth century A.D by the Franks in the old town of Pylos. Later augmentations to the fortress were additionally made by the Venetians and the Turks. It sits on a forcing rock arrangement above the cave of Nestor and guards Voidokilia and Sykia Pass. The high spot of Palaiokastro offers a remarkable view of Pylos and of the whole Gialova and Navarino Bay.

Nestor's Cave
On the rock where Old Pylos Castle was constructed one can obviously see a cave. This is the mythical cave of Nestor, son of Neleus. According to myth, this is the place where the royal cattle were kept. The cave is loaded with stalactites and the access is simple, as the cave is located at the foot of the castle's walls. You should visit the cave because the view from there is phenomenal!

Hydra
Hydra is the most impressive island in the Argo Saronic Gulf. Due to its close distance to Athens, it gets very popular as a summer weekend destination. The town is constructed on the slopes of a hill around a port and impresses visitors at first sight with the elegant stone mansions. The special thing about Hydra island is that cars and other motor vehicles are entirely prohibited in all the island, so all transport is done on foot, by boat or riding the donkey.

Spetses, an island boasting a long naval tradition, is famous for its significant contribution to the 1821 War of Independence. It was here that the revolution flag was raised on 3rd April 1821. The island has managed to retain its individual traditional character thanks to its well-preserved grand captain mansions, still bearing eloquent witness to the island’s glorious past. The picturesque old harbour and Dápia, a tourist and commercial centre where the heart of the island’s entertainment beats, are the trademarks of the town of Spetses.

Divari or Chrisi Beach is a standout amongst the most famous beaches of Pylia. It is a greatly long beach that has entered the assigned special protection areas of Natura 2000. Close to the area where the beach spreads, guests will see the lovely lagoon of Gialova where an appealing diversity of vegetation exists. The beach is situated after the developed area of Gialova

Underneath Voidokilia is Glossa, the small beach with the little opening between the rocks that barely permit the water to enter. Nonetheless, it steadily extends and leaves extra area for the sandy beach to grow and welcome its bathers. The water is constantly pleasant and quiet and it is unquestionably the right beach for nudists and for couples who love alternative entertainment

It is located 138km from Athens and has many interesting sightseeing such as the Palamidi Fortress which is a true architectural masterpiece. It was build in the 19th century during the Venetian occupation. Nauplio has also the fortress of Bourtzi which is a small island that attracts many visitors because of its fortress.

Monemvasia
Monemvasia is in the south of the Peloponnese, in Laconia region. Monemvasia is an amazing historical town at the foot of a large plateau, site of a medieval fortress with many churches. The wonderful Monemvasia Rock or the Gibraltar of the East is about 2 kms from the modern port of Monemvasia, about a 15 minutes walk. It was separated from the mainland by an earthquake in 337 AD and inhabited from the 6th century.

Mystras is a fortified town situated on Mont Taygetos, near ancient Sparta. After having conquered Constantinople (today Istanbul) in 1204, the Crusaders of the Western Europe divided Greece among themselves. Small states were created and one of those was Mystra. It was built as an amphitheatre around the fortress erected in 1249 by the Latin prince of Achaia, William of Villehardouin.

Located on the eastern side of Peloponnese, Porto Heli is a small seaside town with large port. This port is a frequent mooring place for fishing boats and yachts in summer, giving to Porto Heli in Greece a cosmopolitan atmosphere. There are a couple of organized beaches in Porto Heli, but the majority are small secluded coves with relaxing atmosphere. A frequent family destination, this region gets frequented by Athenians who have holiday homes there in summer.

Megalos Simos is the longest beach in Elafonissos and Mikros Simos can be accessed within a short walking distance from there. The site of ancient Corinth was first inhabited in the Neolithic period (6500-3250 B.C.). It is located at the northern base of the hill of Acrocorinth at the site of today’s agglomeration, Ancient Corinth. Its fertile soil but mainly its strategic location at the intersection of land routes from the Balkan peninsula of Aimos and mainland Greece on towards the Peloponnese and waterways that connect the western Mediterranean to its Eastern counterpart, to Asia Minor and to Syro-Palestine, offered the region from very early on enormous potential for communication, growth and prosperity.
